Leaf Peeping is an extremely popular reason to go to New England in this time of year (Maine & New Hampshire are part of what is called New England). And hence we 'leaf peeped' to our harts content. There are specialized website where you can get a 'Foliage Reports' by the day to make sure you get there at the right time.
Rick also took this part of the trip very serious as you can see!
The route was also filled with little rivers like below. With the prettiest ones we often could not stop at or near the bridge to take pictures but you get an idea of what happens in the combination of shallow rocky rivers, abundant foliage colors and cold weather.
As it was quite windy most of the days we where there the trees where shedding the pretty colors fast!
But there was a very happy customer for any leaves that made it to the ground.
And yes after the below he ended up sitting in the puddle and was covered in mud. Probably a good thing as because of which we found out his diaper was unable to deal with his bowel movement and he had s*** underneath these clothes from neck to shins. So the mud as the least to deal with but the enormous giggles where well worth it!
And the result even on the grass could be very very pretty and you can see how these colors work inspiring to people and have inspired to typical red color of many of the main houses.
