Duuk's first day of school

Although Duuk is not quite two yet, we agreed with school sort off that Duuk could start after the xmas holidays as it provided a more natural starting point. Late yesterday we realized we had never confirmed this and texted the nursery teacher and the head of school to check. This morning was also the only morning in the next week or more one of us could move stuff around at work to take him actually to school. Fortunately we got two happy text messages back, so I scrambled some stuff together….What a difference. With Rick and Kaat the preparations where much much more thorough!

The only one who was very emotional about it all? - Me! Well actually, also Chandramma and Sarala who will now have a lot less time to sound with Duuk

 Rick and Kaat where very excited Duuk was now also coming to their school

 With all the extra supplies of a first day Duuk did not yet get to carry his own pack up the drive

 But he did get good support

 All the way into his classroom

 Duuk immediately just picked a seat at the table and started playing -:)

 He also was clearly very pleased with the toy car collection

 Not yet so much with any of the other kids that showed up

 Rick and Kaat know very well what super things Ms Joya's class has on offer and where pointing out all the amenities

 So when it became utterly apparent that for Duuk the first day of school was nothing special. Eelco left.

Both Kaat and Rick checked up on little bro during the day and so did we with Ms Joya. But he had just 'slipped in'. No tears, no questioning faces, no uncertainty. All normal! When we asked him tonight whether he wanted to go to school again tomorrow to Ms Joya he said 'Yes'. Loud and clear. No idea he understood the question. But as I understood from Anbu, with the love they have at school for our other kids, the fact that we now are the only ones with 3 kids in that school (unlikely considering they only cater for age 2-6), the whole staff was immediately into Duuk as well and at least half of them came to see him off and make sure Anbu could manage with all 3 kids.

Leaves just me and the ladies in shambles about little boys growing up too fast!
