Rick 4!

June 30th, 4 years ago Eelco and I became parents, it was easily the best day of our lives. The 4 years have flown by and we think our big boy Rick is really really a big little boy already. Although he had his kids party a few weeks ago we celebrated the real event of his Birthday with the family in the Netherlands.

Forunately a girl who used to work for me now bakes fancy birthday cakes as a hobby and so I had ordered a lovely pirate cake over facebook and all we had to do was pick it up. 

As you could see Rick knew exactly what to do with it and was as enthusiastic as about his Bangalore Chocolate Pirate ship.

When I told Rick the present I got him was exactly what he wanted his face was priceless. He remembered how he told me many many weeks ago that he wanted 5 little simba's (lion cubs) and a mommy lion. He was very very happy - he would have no idea how special it is that these 5 lion cubs where bought in Dubai, Singapore, Doha and NL -;) 

The horse and pirate based play mobile from the Oma's was also a BIG hit, and fortunately there was immediately some time to play with it all.

In the afternoon we met up with all the cousins, aunties & uncles at a nearby farm. Rick also loves real animals, although he is scared of most of them close up.

All the kids and grand parents loved the farm.

Duuk met fellow baby & cousin Tjade. By now the boys are too big though for 1 stroller.

Texan Rick of course also wanted to ride the horsies. As did everyone else.

so we had a queue full with all the non baby cousins.

And so the parents also got to do endless rounds with the horses -:)

Rick thought baby Duuk should ride too.......

After all the rides it was time for juice & more cake and the elaborate present exchange - celebrating we where all seeing each other again - or for the first time (Duuk).

We had even managed the typical US after party goodie bags - but for our kids it was not really needed to entertain them on the way back home. Completely worn out!

We no longer have 3 kids '3 and under'. Now they are 'much' older at 4 almost 2,5 and almost 5 months.
