This morning Eelco ran the Woodlands 1/2 Marathon. The Woodlands is a commuter suburb some 20 Mi North of Houston. With a less rigorous preparation as for the Houston race, but also a much less competitive / professional field Eelco still did great @ 1:39:11 (his 3rd time ever) - being 17th in his age group and 110th out of 1200 guys. Sietske also ran and did amazing at 2:13.
My challenge was just getting there w 2 kids (of which one is NOT pleased about getting up in any hurried manner or before 8am) at 7.30 to cheer on at the halfway point and then get back in the car, loaded up and off to the finish. I failed somewhat as I could not manage a camera to get some action shots of Eelco in the process too. Sorry!
It was 29C most of the week so I got caught off guard as to how cold it was again this morning (15C). The orange paraphernalia we brought to cheer on Eelco & Sietske though did its job.
As you can see Kaat thinks she is ready to eat whole apples. She has been for a while actually...Koningin K we call her. Definitely in command -;) What a cutie!
Rick was there too - just no pictures - covered in Nutella, cheering on the Runners, checking out pretty girls 2x his age in the bouncy castle and otherwise entertaining himself.
